Role Description 

The Engineering Manager will join Zócalo Health at a critical time in the history of our company and of primary care. The opportunity for impact is large and growing, and Zócalo Health will lead the transition from fee-for-service to value-based care for the growing Latino community in the U.S.

An integral member of the Zócalo Health founding team, you will be writing code, building the technology platform that is a key pillar of our business, while helping grow and manage technical resources, as well as the overarching technology vision. You will help set, manage, and drive the key technology initiatives necessary to ensure alignment among goals, timelines, costs, and quality. You’ll be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and solving our most critical technical challenges and opportunities. 

You will report directly to the CEO, and work closely with our new engineering team members, clinical operations, design, and product leadership.

The Engineering Manager will contribute in the following ways:

  • Lead architecture, design, and development of Zócalo ONE, our integrated care delivery platform
  • Work closely with lead developers to define, implement, and evolve technical architecture
  • Be hands-on with the building of v1 of our product, through system design and architecture and have the ability to get into the code (you will spend 60-70% of your time coding)
  • Lead key projects across development, quality, infrastructure, and data engineering
  • Champion quality coding practices and test coverage 
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent
  • Hire, mentor, and manage best in class full-stack, front-end, and mobile engineering teams
  • Partner with Head of Product to delivery industry leading patient and provider platforms
  • Drive product creation through its full lifecycle including research, design, development, and release.
  • Communicate the company’s technological vision, opportunities

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
  • Experience partnering with product, design, and operations teams.
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS, MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • A strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects
  • Track record of recruiting, hiring, and developing engineering talent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in full-native, hybrid, and pur-web mobile app development
  • Experience with real time audio and video communication systems
  • Experience deploying software using AWS
  • Certified scrum master, agile certified practitioner or similar certification
  • Entrepreneurial spirit combined with strong program and product management skills
  • Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement of systems, software and processes through data analysis and metrics
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry
