SureStart is seeking a Business Development and Talent Placement Manager to develop paying relationships between SureStart and clients looking for early stage technical talent for Machine Learning and Data Science related roles

Compensation

Salary consists of base plus an uncapped commission with lucrative accelerators. Commensurate with relevant experience and skills.

Responsibilities

Business development activities

Perform business development activities to expand the roster of SureStart client companies on a national scale, through

  • Promoting SureStart to companies as a source for high-quality diverse tech talent.
  • Developing a portfolio of current and prospective clients, and generating account maps for all accounts.
  • Placing SureStart candidates at client companies for internship (or other contract) or early career permanent positions. 
  • Maintaining regular interactions (remote or in-person) with current and prospective clients to develop and nurture long-term business collaborations.
  • Developing and managing processes to efficiently execute on position assessments with client companies.
  • Negotiating talent placement fees with clients. 

Candidate Pipeline Development Activities

  • Build and nurture relationships with the SureStart student body, including alumni. 
  • Develop strategies to ensure that SureStart candidates are using our placement services to connect with prospective employers. 
  • Present tech readiness training and placement to students as a benefit of being part of the SureStart program. 
  • Assist SureStart curriculum team to:
    • Create/update technical interview readiness resources tailored to specific tech + AI verticals as needed.
    • Implement quantification strategies (“prep checklist”) to measure interview readiness of  SureStart trainees upon completion of program.
  • Maintaining a current database of job opportunities and periodically sharing the latter with the SureStart community.

Placement Activities

Support placement team in the following activities:

  • Identify potential SureStart current trainees and alumni for specific client opportunities 
  • Understand and delineate expectations of the different interview rounds for each role to be shared with SureStart candidates. 
  • Provide effective support to candidates to ensure optimal placement outcomes, including resume and prep checklist review, providing feedback for improvement,  interview coordination, and debriefing after technical interviews.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with clients and placed candidates to address any concerns
  • Resolve any customer or candidate issues quickly and efficiently to ensure a positive engagement for clients and candidates.
  • Uncover additional opportunities through contact with SureStart trainees on engagement, and clients to grow our business and job opportunities for other trainees.
  • Accurately track all metrics in a CRM

Requirements

  •  3+ years experience in Business Development in Consulting, Talent and/or manpower, or 3+ in Recruiting/Placement and/or Sales Success of Services/Education. 
  • Bachelor's Degree (Accounting/Finance/Business or CS related preferred) or equivalent
  • Prior success marketing to and closing top level decision makers at small/medium sized businesses and cultivating mutually beneficial long term relationships.
  • Familiar with DEI priorities within tech companies and how DEI corporate dollars are being spent, and able to draw a connection between the latter and SureStart’s offerings. 
  • Self-starters who can thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment, proactively manage numerous projects and prioritize competing timelines.

Preferred but not required: Experience in hiring for any of the following fields; machine learning, data science, software engineering, data analytics, or equivalent
